Alongside its typically tasteful takes on technical gear, Poliquant’s SS25 collection preview in Paris included two custom Clarks shoes that are both experimental and concept-driven.

Poliquant has reimagined two of Clarks’ most famous models, the Wallabee and Desert Trek, with the theme of “beautification over time.”

Both beige-hued shoes have a clear resin coat added to the upper creating uneven patches where the fabric is more glossy. This is added to give the shoes a worn-in look that will become more prominent over time with wear and tear.

Being a function-focused brand, Poliquant also switched the regular laces for drawstring laces normally found on outdoor trail shoes — a small utilitarian touch. The collaboration also comes with an extra eyelet for the laces added to both pairs.

It’s not yet clear whether this is an official collaboration, Poliquant describes it as a “custom project,” however, the sneakers will be available to shop next year as part of the Japanese brand’s spring/summer 2025 collection.

Not the only pair of custom Clarks that were on view in Paris during fashion week, fellow niche designer JiyongKim created 1-of-1, sunbleached Clarks that were available to view in his showroom.

And this collaboration (or, custom project) has a similar appeal to that of JiyongKim’s: it is classic footwear upgraded with an artisanal twist.
