Massimo Osti, the late Italian designer who founded renowned brands such as C.P. Company and Stone Island, was always passionate about sailing.

His love of the sea inspired many of his technical designs and his most famous logo: the Stone Island Compass (yes, the one that decorates the removable badge that’s become a piece of pop culture).

So, for the Massimo Osti Studio to collaborate with a professional sailor on a capsule collection just makes sense.

The brand, unveiled at the end of last year by Massimo’s son, Lorenzo Osti, has linked up with Alberto Riva, an Italian sailor and engineer involved for years in offshore racing.

Massimo Osti Studio is embarking on a three-year partnership with Alberto Riva, becoming one of his official sponsors. This partnership will be inaugurated as Riva competes in the oldest non-stop ocean race from west to east, the Transat Québec, as part of the Acrobatica Sailing Team in an Acrobatica Class 40 boat.

“Meeting Massimo Osti Studio was easy because we share a love of the sea, a passion for materials and for experimenting with new forms and concepts,” says Alberto Riva in a statement. The sailor has helped to design a five-piece capsule collection titled Chapter 05: Massimo Osti Studio x Alberto Riva.

The collection, which is available to shop now from the Massimo Osti Studio website, includes an orange jacket and vest crafted from satin rubber, a double garment-dyed cotton satin coated with a polyurethane film.

The weather-resistant outerwear is joined by technical shorts, gloves, and a sweatshirt, all decorated with co-branded detailing that pays homage to Alberto Riva's '201 Acrobatica' boat.

It’s a collection that honors two of Massimo Osti’s biggest passions: sailing and fabric innovation.
